Competition Rules
Competition Format
Each athlete is allowed three attempts in the Snatch and three attempts in the Clean & Jerk.
The competition follows a central clock system that determines the time allocated for each attempt and for changing the barbell weights. The clock runs continuously and does not stop.
The time limits are as follows:
- Snatch: 40 seconds.
- Clean & Jerk: 50 seconds.
- Weight changes: 20 seconds.
Each attempt must be started and completed within the allocated time. Failure to do so results in an unsuccessful attempt (No Lift).
All athletes are provided with equal warm-up time and equal rest periods between attempts.
Athlete Groups and Lifting Order
The competition is organized into separate heats, with the number of heats and participants determined by the total number of registered athletes.
Each heat consists of a number of athletes divisible by five, organized into subgroups of 5 athletes.
The lifting order is determined by the declared opening weights in the Snatch, arranged from the lightest to the heaviest.
Within each subgroup, attempts are performed in the following order:
- All five athletes complete their first attempts.
- All five athletes then complete their second attempts.
- Finally, all five athletes complete their third attempts.
The same format applies to all subgroups and competition heats.
Declaring and Changing Weights
After each attempt, athletes must immediately inform the technical officials of the weight they wish to attempt next.
If no new weight is declared:
- Following a successful attempt, the weight is automatically increased by 1 kg.
- Following an unsuccessful attempt, the weight remains unchanged.
Once declared, the weight for the next attempt cannot be changed.
Reducing a previously declared weight is not permitted.
Successful and Unsuccessful Attempts
An attempt is considered successful only when approved by the Head Judge.
After stabilizing the barbell overhead, the athlete must wait for the Head Judge's "DOWN" command before lowering or releasing the barbell.
An attempt is considered unsuccessful (No Lift) if:
- The barbell is released before the Head Judge's signal.
- The athlete steps outside the boundaries of the competition platform while attempting to save the lift.
- The athlete stabilizes the barbell overhead but then drops or loses it backward.
- The attempt is not completed within the allocated time.
Press-out is permitted and is not considered a fault.
Ranking and Determining Winners
Athlete rankings are determined using the Sinclair Formula, based on each athlete's best total in the Snatch and Clean & Jerk.
In the event of a tie in Sinclair points, the athlete who achieved the total earlier in the competition ranks higher.
PRO Category
Athletes in the PRO category are ordered according to their Sinclair points, calculated from their declared opening weights.
Safety and Judging Decisions
The judging panel reserves the right to stop any athlete demonstrating dangerous lifting technique or behavior that may compromise their own safety or the safety of others.
All decisions made by the Head Judge are final and cannot be appealed.
All athletes participate at their own risk and are responsible for their own health and physical condition.
